SEALED PRIVACY POLICY How your memories and data are handled. Introduction --------------- This Privacy Policy explains how Sealed ("Sealed," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your information when you use the Sealed mobile application and related services (the "Service"). We built Sealed around the idea that your memories stay yours, and we take that seriously. By using Sealed, you agree to the practices described here. 2. Information You Provide -------------------------- When you create an account and use Sealed, we collect: account details (your email address, full name, chosen username, and optional profile photo); User Content (the videos, audio, images, and written messages you record or write for your capsules, along with capsule titles); recipient information (the email addresses and/or usernames of people you choose to send capsules to); and delivery settings (such as the scheduled delivery date, time, and time zone). You provide this information directly, and it is necessary to deliver the core features of the app. 3. Information Collected Automatically -------------------------------------- To operate and secure the Service, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically process limited technical data such as your authentication tokens, timestamps of actions (for example, when a capsule was sealed or delivered), app version, and basic device/log information used for security, debugging, and reliability. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles. 4. How We Use Your Information ------------------------------ We use your information to: create and manage your account; store your capsules securely until their scheduled delivery; deliver capsules to you and your chosen recipients by email and/or in-app notification; send you notifications you have enabled (such as when a capsule is ready or someone sends you one); process purchases and manage subscription entitlements; maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the Service; comply with legal obligations; and respond to your support requests. We do not sell your personal information. 5. Video, Audio & Sensitive Content ----------------------------------- Sealed is designed to record and store video and audio you create. This content can be personal and sensitive. It is stored in encrypted cloud storage and access is restricted by row-level security so that only you and the recipients you designate can access a given capsule, and only under the conditions you set (for example, after the delivery date). We do not view, monetize, or use the contents of your capsules for any purpose other than storing and delivering them as you instruct, except where required by law or to enforce our Terms. 6. Recipients & Sharing You Initiate ------------------------------------ When you add recipients to a capsule, we use the email addresses and/or account identifiers you provide to deliver that capsule at the scheduled time. Once a capsule is delivered, the recipient can view its contents. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to contact each recipient and to share the content with them. If you add a recipient by email who is not a Sealed user, we process that email address only to deliver your capsule. 7. How We Share Information (Service Providers) ----------------------------------------------- We share information only with third parties that help us run the Service, under agreements that require them to protect your data: cloud database and file-storage providers host your account data and encrypted media; a transactional email provider sends capsule-delivery emails and account emails on our behalf; and Apple processes in-app purchases and subscriptions (we receive purchase confirmations and entitlement status, not your full payment details). We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the rights, safety, and property of Sealed or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy. 8. Data Storage & Security -------------------------- Your data is stored on reputable third-party cloud infrastructure. We use technical and organizational safeguards including encrypted storage, secure (HTTPS/TLS) connections, authenticated access, and row-level security policies that restrict each record to its owner and authorized recipients. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. 9. Data Retention & Account Deletion ------------------------------------ We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete any capsule you created at any time, which removes its message, video, and recipient records from active systems. When you delete your account from the app's settings, your account is first deactivated and enters a 30-day grace period: it is hidden, scheduled capsules stop being delivered, and your data is queued for deletion but not yet erased. If you sign back in within those 30 days, deletion is automatically canceled and your account is fully restored. If you do not, after 30 days we permanently delete your personal data, profile, videos, messages, and the capsules you created — including the associated files in cloud storage and your authentication record — from active systems, except for content already delivered to recipients and residual copies retained in routine encrypted backups for a limited period or where retention is required by law. 10. Your Rights & Choices ------------------------- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your profile in the app, delete capsules you created, adjust notification preferences, manage subscriptions through your Apple ID, and delete your account (which begins the 30-day deletion process described in Section 9). To exercise any right, contact us at support@sealedapp.io; we will respond as required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases for processing include performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. 11. Children's Privacy ---------------------- Sealed is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@sealedapp.io and we will take steps to delete it. Users under the age of majority must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service. 12. International Data Transfers -------------------------------- Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers. 13. Push & Email Notifications ------------------------------ With your permission, we send push notifications and emails related to your capsules and account. You can control push notifications in your device settings and within the app. Delivery emails for scheduled capsules are essential to the Service and are sent on the chosen date even when optional app alerts are turned off. 14. Changes to This Policy -------------------------- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. 15.
